Cardinals Travel to NC State and Wake Forest for ACC Regular Season Finale

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The University of Louisville women' s tennis team hits the road this weekend for their final regular season Atlantic Coast Conference matches. The Cardinals will face NC State on April 3 at 3 p.m. in Raleigh and then head to Winston-Salem on April 5 to face Wake Forest at noon.

The Cardinals are 9-9 and 1-9 in ACC play. UofL is coming off a pair of losses last weekend, falling to Cal 4-1 last Friday with Stanford prevailing 4-1 on Sunday. Senior Alice Otis scored an upset at No. 1 with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Cal's No. 16-ranked Johane Svendsen. Against Stanford, the Cardinals swiped the doubles point. The pair of Berta Miret and Elena Noguero, playing their first match at No. 1, notched a 6-4 win over Alyssa Ahn and Caroline Driscoll. Alice Otis and Lika Peresypkina outlasted Monika Ekstrand and Tianmei Wang 7-6, 7-5 to clinch the point.

No. 9 NC State women's tennis swept Syracuse, 7-0 last Sunday afternoon at J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. With the win, NC State improved to 15-5 overall and 7-1 in ACC play.  The Wolfpack also earned a 6-1 home win over Boston College on Friday afternoon in Winston Salem. No. 2 Gabriella Broadfoot and Victoria Osuigwe are 24-5 overall and 8-0 in ACC. The Wolfpack is on a 5 match winning streak and has won 11 doubles points in a row. Â

The Demon Deacons are coming off a 4-1 victory in ACC play, as Wake Forest defeated Boston College on Sunday afternoon.  Sankavi Gownder  (14-5) and Evie Oxford (15-5) continued to impress in singles play and Kady Tannenbaum delivered a clutch victory to seal the match against the Eagles. Tannenbaum teams with Nevena Carton to post a 9-6 at No. 1 doubles. Wake Forest returns to Winston-Salem for its final home matches of the spring, first hosting Notre Dame on Friday for a 4 p.m. start before facing Louisville on Sunday at 12 noon.  Â
