Cardinals Shutout the Orange 3-0 on Friday Morning

Cards improve to 8-1 on the season
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The 22nd ranked University of Louisville women's soccer team defeated Syracuse 3-0 on Friday morning at the SU Soccer Complex. The Cardinals improve to 8-1 on the season and 1-1 in ACC play.
The Cardinals struck early in the first half. Emina Ekic sent a cross to Arianna Ferraro who sent a pass inside the box to Delaney Snyder. Snyder tapped the ball into the right post for a 1-0 lead in the second minute of play.
Louisville struck again in the 35th minute. Maisie Whitsett sent a pass back to freshman Corinne Dente just outside the box. Dente blasted a shot to the upper right post over the goalkeepers head to put the Cards up 2-0.
Louisville finished the first half with a 10-3 shot advantage while Syracuse held a 1-0 corner kick advantage. Syracuse's Lysianne Proulx finished the first half with five saves while Gabby Kouzelous finished with three.
Ekic put the game out of reach in the 76th minute. She dribbled the ball through defenders, stopping at the top of the box and sending a left-footed shot to the top left corner for a 3-0 lead.
Louisville finished the game with a 16-6 shot advantage while both teams finished with three corner kicks. Proulx finished with five saves while Kouzelos finished with four.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Sunday at noon against Boston College.
