Cardinals Host No. 9 Vanderbilt on Sunday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Louisville women's soccer team will host ninth-ranked Vanderbilt on Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at Lynn Stadium. The Cardinals enter the match with an overall record of 6-0 after defeating Dayton 5-2 on Thursday night. Five different players scored for the Cardinals while Emina Ekic dished out two assists.Â

Ekic leads the Cardinals with 10 points off three goals and four assists. Senior Brooklynn Rivers and sophomore Maisie Whitsett have tallied three goals each this season for six points. Junior keeper Gabby Kouzelos has a 6-0 record in goal with four shutouts. She owns a 0.20 goals against average to start the season. Â

Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 20th season with the Cardinals. She has led Louisville to five NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.

Vanderbilt enters Sunday's match ranked ninth in the United Soccer Coaches poll. The Commodore are 7-0 on the season after defeating Chattanooga 3-0 on Thursday night.Â

Haley Hopkins leads the team in scoring with 21 points (9g, 3a) so far this season. Paola Ellis is second on the team with six points from three goals while Madison Elwell has six points from six assists. Vandy plays two goalkeepers - Taiana Tolleson and Lauren DeMarchi. Both keepers have a combined 0.29 goals against average.Â

Head coach Darren Ambrose is in his fifth season at the helm. He owns a 53-28-6 record with the Commodores and an all-time record of 201-99-41.
