Women's Soccer Hosts Dayton on Thursday Evening

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The Louisville women's soccer team will host the Dayton Flyers on Thursday evening at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium at 7:30 p.m. The Cardinals enter the match with an overall record of 5-0 after shutting out Indiana last week. Junior midfielder Emina Ekic scored the game-winner off a penalty kick in the 77th minute for the Cards.

Ekic leads the Cardinals with eight points off three goals and two assists. Senior Brooklynn Rivers and sophomore Maisie Whitsett have tallied two goals each this season for four points. Junior keeper Gabby Kouzelos has a 5-0 record in goal with four shutouts. She owns a 0.22 goals against average to start the season. Â

Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 20th season with the Cardinals. She has led Louisville to five NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.

SCOUTING DAYTON
Dayton enters the match with a 1-4-1 overall record. Last week the Flyers fell to Bowling Green 2-1 and Indiana State 1-0.

Jordan Pauley and Alexis Goins leads the team with two goal apiece. Laney Huber and Landy Mertz each have one goal and one assist. Goalkeeper Carly Becker has played every minute in goal for the Flyers. She owns a 1.24 goals against record and has collected 17 saves.Â

Head coach Eric Golz is in his third season at the helm. He owns a 17-18-4 record with the Flyers and an all-time record of 41-37-10.

Dayton leads the all-time series 11-2-0. The Cardinals have one the last two meeting in 2011 and 2018. Last season Louisville defeated Dayton 1-0 in Dayton. The last time the two teams met in Louisville the Cardinals defeated the Flyers 2-0 on Nov. 12, 2011 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.Â
