Cason Leads Cards on Day Two of NCAA Regional

Cason carded an even-par 72. The final round begins Wednesday at 9:06 a.m.
EAST LANSING, Mich. - The University of Louisville women's golf team waited through what turned out to be a near seven hour rain delay before finally taking to the course for the second round of the NCAA East Lansing Regional. Once the rain clouds moved on, the Cardinals headed to the course where they improved on their day one score, shooting a 304 and now sit in 14th place with a 36-hole score of 609.

Hosted by Michigan State at the Forest Akers West Golf Course, the par-72 course is being played at 6,387 yards. Kent State holds a one shot lead over the field with a two-day score of 3-under-par 573. Patty Tavatanakit from UCLA leads the individual standings with a 36-hole score of 7-under-par 137.

UofL enters the final day four shots back of Georgia and seven back of both Campbell and Xavier. The Cardinals remain ahead of ACC rival North Carolina by two strokes.

Lauren Hartlage continues to lead the way for the Cards as she sits in a tie for 38th with a two-day score of 150. For the day, Hartlage carded a 6-over-par 78, which included a birdie on No. 17. Two strokes back in a tie for 46th place is Margot Bechadergue, who also carded a 78 for the round.

Olivia Cason led the Cardinals on the day as she fired an even-par 72, nine shots better than round one, as she is tied for 58th with a 153. Cason ended her round by carding birdies on three of her final six holes, including the last two, Nos. 11 and 12. Mairead Martin shot a 4-over-par 76 during the second round as she is tied for 63rd with a 36-hole score of 154. Martin's lone birdie of the day came on No. 7, a 150-yard par-3.

Delaney Shah improved by five shots from day one as she rounded out the scoring for Louisville, shooting a 79, while recording birdies on Nos. 2 and 17. Shah sits in 90th place with a two-day score of 163.

The final round of the NCAA East Landing Regional will see the Cardinals teeing off tomorrow, May 8, from 9:06 - 9:50 a.m. off the No. 10 tee.
