Louisville Hosts Ohio State in 2019 Home Finale

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's lacrosse concludes its 2019 home schedule with a matchup against Ohio State on Tuesday at 1 p.m.

The Cardinals are 4-10 overall and 0-5 in ACC play and are coming off a 17-6 loss to No. 5 North Carolina.

Following back-to-back wins, the Cardinals are looking to end a season-long four-game losing streak. They have lost their last three home games and are 2-5 at home this season.

In the loss to the Tar Heels on Saturday, after trailing 13-1 at halftime, the Cardinals outscored North Carolina 5-4 and outshot them 17-9 in the second half.

Alex McNicholas recorded six draw controls on Saturday to give her 104 for her career.

In other milestones, Tessa Chad is two points away from 200 for her four-year career and four points shy of 100 for her UofL career. Brenna Shanahan is five ground balls away from 100 for her four-year career.

The Cardinals have turned the ball over less than their opponent in eight of their 14 contests with a team-low 11 turnovers in their 17-16 loss to Virginia Tech. They had 15 turnovers in the loss to North Carolina.

UofL is 4-4 against unranked teams and 0-6 against ranked teams.

ABOUT THE BUCKEYES

Ohio State (8-5, 0-3 Big Ten) has dropped four of its last six games after opening the season with a record of 6-1, most recently falling to Penn State 21-5 on April 4.

The Buckeyes' offense is led by junior midfielder Liza Hernandez, who has tallied 29 goals and 21 assists for 50 points. Fellow midfielder Baley Parrott leads Ohio State in goals with 33, while also adding eight assists for 41 points. The senior has also recorded 24 ground balls and draw controls apiece, as well as 12 caused turnovers.

In goal, Jill Rizzo has accumulated 147 saves with a save percentage of .498.

Ohio State was picked to finish sixth in the Big Ten Preseason Poll, while Hernandez, Parrott and Rizzo were named to the Big Ten Preseason Players to Watch list.

Series History – The Cardinals are 2-5 all-time against Ohio State with a 1-2 record at UofL Lacrosse Stadium. The last meeting between the two squads resulted in an 11-10 double overtime win for the Cards on May 9, 2014, allowing them to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
