
Louisville Opens ACC Tournament Against No. 1 Boston College

The Cardinals and Eagles will square off at 11 a.m. ET on Wednesday.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's lacrosse opens ACC Tournament play with a matchup against No. 1 Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Mass. on Wednesday at 11 p.m. a.m. ET.

The Cardinals are the eight-seed after finishing the regular season with a 5-12 record, 0-7 in Atlantic Coast Conference play, while the Eagles are the one-seed and one of two undefeated teams remaining in the country. They enter postseason play with a 17-0 record, 7-0 in league play.
The matchup comes just four days after the Cardinals fell 19-6 to the Eagles in both teams' regular season finale.
It marks the second straight season that Louisville has faced Boston College in the first round of the ACC Tournament. Last season, UofL fell 19-6 to BC, and they are 0-4 all-time in the ACC Tournament.
Louisville is 5-4 against unranked teams this season and 0-8 against ranked teams.
Tessa Chad leads the way for the Cardinals. She has played in 34 games with 32 starts in her two seasons at UofL. Her 55 goals this season rank 13th in the nation and sixth in the ACC. Her 1.5 free position goals per game rank sixth in the country.
For her career, she has 98 goals in a Louisville uniform, which ranks 10th all-time, and her 2.88 goals per game in two seasons at Louisville rank third all-time in program history. She has scored a hat trick in seven of the Cards' last 11 games and has 42 goals in that stretch. She has 10 hat tricks on the season.
Maddie Birch ranks second in the ACC with 1.59 caused turnovers per game. She has tallied 27 through 17 contests, while also collecting 2.12 ground balls per game, which ranks sixth in the conference standings.

Boston College (17-0) enters Wednesday's matchup as the top-ranked team in the nation with 10 wins against ranked opponents this season. The Eagles are averaging 17.6 goals per game with an average margin of victory of 7.8 goals.
Senior attacker Sam Apuzzo leads the Eagles' offense with 71 goals and 25 assists for 96 points on the season. Fellow attacker Kenzie Kent follows just behind with 36 goals and a team-high 58 assists for 94 points. Apuzzo also leads Boston College in ground balls (28), caused turnovers (22) and draw controls (127).
In goal, sophomore Abbey Ngai has started 12 contests for the Eagles and has tallied 119 saves with a save percentage of .506.
As a team, Boston College was tabbed as the conference favorite in the ACC Preseason Coaches Poll. Five Eagles were name to the All-ACC Preseason Team, including Apuzzo, Kent, senior midfielder Dempsey Arsenault, senior defender Elizabeth Miller and senior goalkeeper Lauren Daly.
