Cardinals Draw Boston College in first round of ACC

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) – The University of Louisville women's tennis team will play Boston College on Wednesday for the 2019 Coast Conference Women's Tennis Championship, which begins Wednesday, April 17 at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, N.C.

North Carolina has earned the top seed for the tournament and the Tar Heels will look to secure their fourth consecutive ACC Championship, and 10th overall when they begin play on Friday at 2:30 p.m. North Carolina will take on the winner of Thursday's 2:30 p.m. second-round match between No. 9 Syracuse and No. 8 Georgia Tech.

No. 13 Virginia Tech and No. 12 Clemson will kick things off in the first round on Wednesday with an 11:30 a.m. match. No. 15 Pitt will take on No. 10 Notre Dame at 2:30 p.m., and first-round action will conclude with No. 14 Louisville vs. No. 11 Boston College at 5 p.m.

On Thursday, No. 5 Miami will face the winner of Virginia Tech/Clemson at 2:30 p.m. Virginia, the No. 7 seed, will be matching up with the winner of Pitt/Notre Dame at 5 p.m. The final second-round match will be No. 6 Wake Forest against the winner of Louisville/Boston College.

Teams receiving double-byes to Friday's quarterfinals with North Carolina are No. 2 Duke, No. 3 Florida State and No. 4 NC State.

Shawn Kenney returns to handle play-by-play of the ACC Tennis Championships, with live coverage set from 10 a.m. through 5 p.m. on the tournament's final two days – Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21. Former Duke standout and ESPN anchor Prim Siripipat will also be on hand at the Cary (North Carolina) Tennis Park to work as analyst for the women's championship. Melanie Newman is back for her third year as sideline reporter.

Siripipat attended Saddlebrook Preparatory School, where she trained with Jennifer Capriati, Andy Roddick, Martina Hingis and Mardy Fish. She traveled the world with the U.S. National Team and eventually finished in the top 10 in the country for players aged 18 and under. She attended Duke on a full scholarship. The Blue Devil women's team was ranked among the top 10 and won the Inoor National Championship her senior year.

Kenney, a veteran announcer who has covered multiple sports on ESPN platforms, will work the ACC Tennis Championships for the fifth straight year.

In addition to her work with tennis, Newman has provided sideline coverage for ACC Network Extra over the past two years at the swimming and track and field championships.
