Cardinals take five singles matches to three sets after dropping doubles point

The University of Louisville took five singles matches to three-sets before falling 7-0 at Notre Dame in ACC women's tennis action Friday evening at the Eck Tennis Pavilion in South Bend.

The Cardinals dropped the doubles point when Sena Suswam and Dina Chaika fell 6-2 to Cameron Corse and Bess Waldram at No. 1. The point was clinched when ND's Zoe Taylor and Ally Bojczuk downed Nikolina Jovic and Aleksandra Mally 6-4 at No. 3.

The Cards could not wrest the momentum away from the Irish (9-5, 3-3 ACC), who struck first in singles. Louisville's Diana Wong was the first to fall, succumbing 6-0, 7-6 (8-6) to Zoe Taylor. Next to fall was Raven Neely at No. 4 when Bess Waldram won 6-3, 7-5. The match was clinched at the No. 2 spot in a heated battle between UofL's Nikolina Jovic and ND's Ally Bojczuk before the Irish took the match 7-6 (7-1), 7-5.

Sena Suswam took ND's No. 58 ranked Zoe Spence to three sets before falling 6-4, 2-6, 6-3. Aleksandra Mally battled Cameron Corse at the No. 3 spot before falling 5-7, 7-6 (7-3), 10-6. Chloe Hamlin fell 206, 7-5 and 6-3 to Brooke Boda in another three-setter.

The Cardinals (10-6, 2-4 ACC) return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center to face Georgia Tech on Sunday at 10 a.m.
