No. 23 Cardinals Face No. 4 Brigham Young in Second Round of NCAA Tournament

PROVO, Utah - For the second time in school history, the 23rd-ranked University of Louisville women's soccer team advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and will face No. 2 Brigham Young on Thursday, Nov. 21. The match is set for 6 p.m. MST at South Field in Provo, Utah.

A header by Sarah Hernandez off Emina Ekic's free kick late in the first half secured the Cardinals' 1-0 shutout over Lipscomb in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at Lynn Stadium on Nov. 15. It was the first time Louisville hosted a tournament game since the 2013 season.

Ekic leads the Cardinals with eight goals and eight assists for 24 points on the season. Brooklynn Rivers ranks second on the team with five goals for 10 points while Delaney Snyder sits in third with four goals and one assist for nine points. Junior goalkeeper Gabby Kouzelos owns a 13-4-2 record along with nine shutouts for a 0.70 goals against average. Â

Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 20th season at the helm of Louisville's program. She has led Louisville to six NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 showing in 2011.

No. 2 Brigham Young advances to the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in school history after posting a convincing 5-1 victory over Boise State in the first round on Nov. 15.

The Cougars clinched their second-straight West Coast Conference title in dominant fashion, defeating Loyola Marymount 8-1 to finish the season undefeated for the first time in program history with a record of 18-0-1. BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood was tabbed WCC Coach of the Year while junior midfielder Mikayla Colohan was named Player of the Year. In addition to Colohan, nine Cougars earned All-WCC honors.

Elise Flake leads the Cougars in scoring with 19 goals and six assists for 44 points while Colohan sits in second with 14 goals and two assists for 34 points. Between the posts, Sabrina Davis has recorded 44 saves and owns a 0.58 goals against average.
