Ryskova Tied for Lead After Day Two of Cardinal Cup

The Cardinals jumped two spots and are tied for second heading into the final round
SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville freshman women's golfer Hana Ryskova carded a career-low 3-under-par 69 during the second round of the 16th annual Cardinal Cup as she shares the individual leading heading into the final round. The Cardinals jumped two spots on the day and are tied for second after recording a team score of 3-over-par 291 for the round.

Hosted by the Cardinals at the University of Louisville Golf Club, the par-72 course is being played at 6,261 yards. Kentucky leads by four shots heading into the final day with a two-day score of 584.

The Cardinals are tied with Campbell with a 36-hole score of 588, two shots up on fourth place Washington. Louisville continues to lead the tournament in birdies with 30. Ryskova is tied for the individual lead with Sera Tadokoro of Kansas.

Ryskova's lowest round of the season included four birdies and just one bogey. Her 36-hole score of 4-under-par 140 is tied for the fourth lowest in Cardinal Cup history. "Yesterday I was struggling with par-5's, so today I decided to change my course management a little bit, and I think it helped," Ryskova said. "I enjoyed it today, it was such a good round. I played solid golf, and hopefully, it will get better tomorrow."

Ryskova birdied three of the six toughest holes on the day, finishing with birdies on Nos. 1, 9, 13, and 18. Her birdie on the par-5, 510-yard No. 13 was the first by any golfer in the tournament. She was one of only three golfers on the day to birdie No. 18, a 384-yard par-4.

Mairead Martin sits one shot back in a tie for third place after shooting a 1-over-par 73. Martin recorded 17 pars on the day, the most by any golfer. Lauren Hartlage finished her day with three birdies to shoot a 2-pver-par 74 and is tied for 28th place at 151.

Delaney Shah is tied for 61st place carding a 75 for the day and 156 for the weekend. She had three birdies in the round on Nos. 5, 15, and 17. Meghan Nay rounds out the scoring for the Cards with an 81 and 163 to sit in a tie for 86th. Nay tied for the team lead with four birdies in the round, including back-to-back on Nos. 3 and 4.

Margot Bechadergue leads Louisville's individuals in a tie for 23rd place with a 150, shooting an even-par 72 in the round with four birdies. She was 2-under-par on the front nine with three birdies on Nos. 5, 6, and 9. Lauren Thibodeau is tied for 38th place, shooting a 75 on the day and a 152 for the tournament. One shot back in a tie for 49th is Agustina Gomez Cisterna, shooting a 78 for the round. Linda Trockel finished the round with a 79, as she is tied for 61st place with a two-day score of 156.

The final round of the Cardinal Cup will be a shotgun start tomorrow, October 20, at 9:00 a.m.
