No. 8/16 Cardinals Head to No. 3/11 Indiana on Friday

The Cardinals face the Hoosiers in their final dual meet of the season.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – With the end of the dual meet season on the horizon, the University of Louisville men's and women's swimming and diving teams travel to Bloomington, Ind. on Friday for their regular season finale against the Indiana Hoosiers. Diving is slated to begin at 12:15 p.m. with swimming kicking off at 2 p.m. inside the Counsilman Billingsley Aquatic Center.
About the Cardinals
Last weekend, the No. 8 Louisville men defeated Northwestern 200-100, but fell to Kentucky in a hard-fought 157.5-142.5 decision. Sophomores Nicolas Albiero (100 fly, 100/200 back) and Evgenii Somov (100/200 breast) were the Cards' top performers, going undefeated in each of their individual events throughout the weekend.
The No. 16 Louisville women topped No. 23 Northwestern 166-134 in a top-25 matchup, but dropped a 175-125 decision to No. 10 Kentucky. Mallory Comerford posted a number of strong swims on the weekend, including a pair of B cuts in the 100 (49.05) and 200 free (1:46.98) against Kentucky.
The Cardinals boast a solid presence in the top-10 rankings nationally, led by Comerford with the third-ranked times in the 100 (46.96) and 200 free (1:42.79), No. 6 time in the 100 fly (50.94) and No. 7 time in the 50 free (21.88). In the butterfly events, Grace Oglesby holds the fourth-ranked times in both the 100 (50.75) and 200 (1:52.64) distances. All five of Louisville's relays are ranked in the top-10 led by the No. 4 400 medley relay (3:30.55).
About Indiana
The third-ranked Indiana men enter Friday's meet with a perfect 7-0 record, including victories over six teams ranked in the top-25. Last time out, the Hoosiers downed No. 24 Purdue 188-106. Zach Apple led the way with three individual wins in the 50 (20.09), 100 (44.27) and 200 free (1:38.77).
The No. 11 Indiana women hold a record of 3-3-1, with all three losses coming at the hands of ranked opponents. Against Purdue, the Hoosiers prevailed 187.5-111.5, led by double individual event victories from Lilly King (100/200 breast) and Jessica Parratto (1-meter/platform).
Both the Indiana men and women have multiple times that rank among the top-10 nationally. On the men's side, Ian Finnerty holds the highest ranking at No. 2 in the 100 breast (51.22). For the women, King owns the top spots in both the 100 (56.43) and 200 breast (2:03.60). The Indiana women are also ranked third in the 200 medley relay (1:35.86).
