Cardinals Set to Host Ball State and Northern Kentucky

Cards host Friday and Sunday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center
The University of Louisville women's tennis team continues its homestand this weekend with another double-header Friday, Jan. 25. The Cardinals take on Ball State at 11 a.m. and Northern Kentucky at 5 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

Louisville( 2-0) opened its season with a pair of victories over Bowling Green and Miami (Ohio) Sunday, Jan. 20. UofL opened the day downing Bowling Green 5-2 and completed the sweep with a 6-1 victory over Miami.
Junior Diana Wong, sophomore Nikolina Jovic and freshman Chloe Hamlin all recorded their first pair of singles wins in the home-opener against the MAC opponents. Louisville took both doubles points and rolled in singles for the wins.Â
Shifting to this weekend, UofL first takes on Ball State at 11 a.m. Ball State opened their season with a 7-0 victory over Dayton. The Cardinals placed tied for sixth in the MAC preseason poll.
Ball State (1-0) is upperclass heavy and led by seniors Audrey Berger, Isabelle Dohanics, Peyton Gollhofer and Sarah Swiderski. Junior Rebecca Herrington posted a 13-7 record in singles last season, the team's highest mark.
Louisville's evening match is against in-state foe Northern Kentucky. The Norse will open their season in Louisville this weekend, first with a match against Bellarmine at 12 p.m. prior to the 5 p.m. start against UofL.
NKU (0-0) finished 2018 with a 7-11 record and were bounced by Cleveland State in the opening round of the Horizon League Championship. Despite the under-.500 record, Northern Kentucky has
Junior Margita Sunjic won her second consecutitive Horizon League Player of the Year award last season, posting a 14-3 record in singles. Sophomore Maria Koo earned All-Horizon League Second Team honors last season, going 7-2 in conference play.
