Cardinals Host Charlotte Tuesday Night at Lynn Stadium

Kickoff for Louisville and Charlotte set for 7:30 p.m., ET
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â The No. 7 Louisville men's soccer team steps out of ACC play to host Conference USA foe Charlotte on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., ET at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. The match will be televised on ACC Network Extra, while live stats will be available at GoCards.com.
ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville, ranked 7th in last week's United Soccer Coaches Top 25, enters the fifth week of the season with a 4-1-0 record overall and a 2-0-0 mark in league play following Friday night's 1-0 triumph at Boston College. The Cardinals are atop the ACC Atlantic with six points matching the total for Wake Forest.
Cherif Dieye leads the Cardinals with two goals (game-winners against BC and Georgia State), while Elijah Amo, Geoffrey Dee, Ziyad Fekri, Kino Ryosuke and Adam Wilson have one goal each this season. Sophomores Jake Gelnovatch and Will Meyer have shared the goalkeeping duties this season with Gelnovatch registering two shutouts in his three starts and Meyer earning one shutout in his two starts.Â
The Cardinals produced another successful season in 2017 reaching the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Championship for the fifth time in the last eight seasons, including the second straight year, and earning a No. 7 ranking in the final United Soccer Coaches Top 25. Louisville had a 13-2-5 record and was second in the ACC Atlantic with a 5-2-1 league mark.

Charlotte enters the match at 3-1-0 overall following a 4-0 win at Elon on Sept. 11. The 49ers were scheduled to host Florida Atlantic last Friday but the match was postponed due to Hurricane Florence. The 49ers were 8-5-6 overall last season, including a 2-1-5 mark in Conference USA.

Louisville trails 9-6-0 in the all-time series with Charlotte, which dates back to 1992. The Cardinals earned a 1-0 overtime road win over the 49ers last season, the first meeting between the programs since 2004. Tuesday will mark Charlotte's first visit to Louisville since they registered a 2-0 win at Cardinal Park in 2004. The programs were Metro Conference foes from 1992-94 and C-USA foes from 1995-2004.Â
