LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville volleyball team finished their weekend homestand with a three-set sweep over Tennessee-Chattanooga Saturday afternoon at Cardinal Arena.

The Mocs (4-8) were led by Miranda Elpers' 14 kills and eight digs.Â
"It was nice to rebound after Friday night's performance against Kentucky," said UofL head coach Dani Busboom Kelly. "This should give us momentum as we head into conference play next weekend."Â
Â
In the first set, the Cardinals jumped on the first two points and never looked back. After Louisville gained the 10-4 lead, the Mocs went on a four-point run before the Cardinals got the stop and went on a three-point run to extend their lead to 13-8. After trading points back and forth to set point, the Cardinals got the win on a kill by Megan Sloan to win the first set, 25-17. Sloan led the offense in the first set with five kills, while Green was productive on both sides of the ball with five digs and three kills.
Â
The Cardinals and the Mocs kept it close in the second set. After a back-and-forth opening, Chattanooga's Miranda Elpers made a kill to even the score at 10. Immediately after, the Cardinals went on a five-point run to take their biggest lead of the second set. The Cardinals were able to hold on and finish on the lead they built, taking the second set 25-18. Green's six kills and three digs along with the team's four blocks led the way to the Cardinals' win.
Â
Louisville once again clinched the opening points of the set, building their lead to 10-6 before Chattanooga called its first timeout. Following the timeout, the Cardinals extended their lead to six, 18-12, which made Chattanooga call their final timeout of the set. After an attack error held Louisville's lead at six, 20-14, the Cardinals took the next five points to clinch the third set and the game. Louisville had an 18-7 advantage in kills over Chattanooga in the final set, along with a game-best hitting percentage of .471.
Â
The match concludes UofL's non-conference slate and UofL opens ACC action next weekend. The Cardinals will travel to North Carolina where they will take on ACC opponents NC State and North Carolina September 21 and 23.
