Louisville to Host WKU Saturday, Intrasquad Scrimmage Friday

Saturday’s exhibition tilt with Hilltoppers to start at 1 p.m. ET; Friday’s scrimmage set for 2:15 p.m.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville baseball team will continue its fall workouts with an intrasquad scrimmage on Friday afternoon before concluding the weekend with an exhibition game against Western Kentucky on Saturday at Jim Patterson Stadium.
First pitch for Friday's scrimmage is scheduled for 2:15 p.m., ET and batting practice will begin at approximately 1 p.m. Saturday's contest with the Hilltoppers is slated for a 1 p.m., start (batting practice at11 a.m.) and will lead into the UofL football team's game with WKU later in the evening (7:30 p.m.). Admission is free for both baseball events at the corner of Third and Central.
The Cardinals are scheduled to host intraquad scrimmages each weekend in September and into October before closing the fall with the annual Pizza Bowl series in mid-October. The specific dates and times for the intrasquad scrimmages as well as the Pizza Bowl will be announced each week. Along with the matchup with WKU, Louisville will also host an open scrimmage against Indiana on Sept. 29 with the time to be announced after the kickoff time for the Louisville-FSU football game is determined.
Louisville entered the fall with returning seven starters in the batting order as well as 10 pitchers from last year's squad, which finished with a 45-19 record after advancing to the championship round of an NCAA Regional for the seventh straight season. Louisville also registered its seventh straight 40-win season and the 11th in 12 seasons under head coach Dan McDonnell.
