Junior lefty was third team selection with 7-2 record, 2.26 ERA and 105 strikeouts in 95.2 innings and 15 starts
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville lefthanded pitcher Adam Wolf received his first career All-America honor on Thursday as the junior was named as a Third Team honoree by Baseball America.
A native of Milan, Ohio, Wolf was honored last week as an All-ACC Second Team selection after serving as the Friday night starter throughout the season for the No. 21 Cardinals (43-17). Wolf, who will start this week's NCAA Championship opener for Louisville, has a 7-2 record, 2.26 ERA and 105 strikeouts with just 26 walks in 15 starts and 95.2 innings pitched. Wolf has allowed three or fewer earned runs in 13 of his 15 outings this season.
Wolf is ranked third in the ACC and 40th in the nation in ERA and is third in the conference in WHIP (1.03). The 105 strikeouts are the ninth highest single season total in school history. During his three-year career with the Cardinals, Wolf has a 13-2 record with a 2.16 ERA and 154 strikeouts in 150.0 innings pitched.
In 12 seasons under the guidance of head coach Dan McDonnell, the Louisville baseball program has produced 36 All-American selections, including two this season with Wolf and Logan Wyatt (Collegiate Baseball Third Team). The Cardinals have earned at least one All-America honor in seven consecutive seasons, including a school record seven All-Americans in 2016.
The No. 21 Louisville baseball team opens the 2018 NCAA Championship on Friday at 7 p.m., ET against Kent State at the Lubbock Regional hosted by Texas Tech at Rip Griffin Park.
