Cardinals and Purple Aces end regulation tied at 1-1; Evansville wins 4-3 in penalty kicks

The Cardinals were the first to find the back of the net in the match. A foul on the Purple Aces in the box gave the Cardinals a penalty kick, which Tate Schmitt was quick to capitalize on to put the Cardinals ahead in the 25th minute. Schmitt also had Louisville's goal in last weekend's draw with UAB.

UofL kept its one-goal lead until the 69th minute when Ben Weber snuck a shot past Jake Gelnovatch for the equalizer. At the end of regulation, Louisville out-shot Evansville 6-3 with Gelnovatch recording two saves in 90 minutes of play.

Will Meyer went between the pipes for the Cardinals in penalty kicks. The Cardinals trailed early with only Haji Abdikadir scoring for the Cardinals in the first three kicks while Evansville made each of its first three kicks. After a stop for Meyer and a conversion by Geoffrey Dee, Evansville made its final kick to claim the victory.

The final home spring exhibition game for the Cardinals will take place at Lynn Stadium on Saturday, April 14 at 7 p.m. ET against Lindsey Wilson.

Through this early bird discount offer, reserved chairback tickets are priced at $90 for adults, $288 for the Family Four Pack ($72 per ticket) and $72 for faculty/staff. General admission/berm seating is priced at $45 for adults as well as faculty/staff.
Following the early bird discount deadline, ticket sales will continue with regular pricing on Feb. 23. Reserved chairback tickets are priced at $100 for adults, $320 for the Family Four Pack and $80 for faculty/staff. General admission/berm seating is priced at $50 for adults, $200 for the Family Four Pack and $50 for faculty/staff.
Season tickets packages include all UofL men's and women's soccer regular season matches at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium.
