Women's Tennis Falls to No. 16 Miami

Cards win doubles point
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Despite winning the doubles point in thrilling fashion, the University of Louisville women's tennis team fell 5-2 to No. 17 Miami on Friday evening at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. With the loss, the Cardinals drop to 13-11 and 3-10 in ACC play.

Miami gained the initial advantage in doubles as No. 85 Ulyana Shirokova and Dominika Paterova defeated Sena Suswam and Ariana Rodriguez 6-1 on court two. The Cards countered with Raven Neely and Maya Smith's 6-3 upset win over No. 81 Ana Madcur and Sinead Lohan at No. 3. With the doubles point on the line, the No. 45 duo of Abbie Pahz and Mariana Humberg delivered a clutch 7-6 (7-5) win over No. 78 Estela Perez-Somarriba and Daniella Roldan to give Louisville a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

In singles, the Hurricanes knotted the score at 1-1 as third-ranked Perez-Somarriba topped Aleksandra Mally 6-0, 6-0 at the one-spot. On court six, Paterova gave Miami a 2-1 lead with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Suswam.

Miami extended their lead further with No. 57 Lohan's 6-4, 6-2 victory over Humberg. However, it was Madcur who clinched the match for the Hurricanes, triumphing over Tiffany Huber by a mark of 6-3, 6-3.

In other singles action, Pahz fell in a hard-fought 3-6, 7-5, 1-0 (11-9) decision to Roldan at No. 3. On court five, Neely added a point for the Cards with a 6-4, 7-6 (14-12) victory over Shirokova.

The Cards return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center on Sunday for their regular season finale against No. 18 Florida State. The match will serve as the Cardinals' Senior Day.
