
Men's Swimming Finals in Four Events After Day 2 Prelims at NCAAs

Cardinals set four school records in fast session in Minneapolis
The University of Louisville set four school records and earned four second swims in the second day of competition at the NCAA Championships on Wednesday morning at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center.

The 200 freestyle relay team will return tonight in the B-finals. Andrej Barna (19.33), Nicolas Albiero (19.30), Zach Harting (19.02), Matyi Kovacs (19.38) put together a 1:17.03 to go .23 faster than their qualifying time and established a new school record. California turned in a 1:15.36, just a tenth off the American record as the top qualifier. The Cards are seeded 13th going into tonight's final.

Marcelo Acosta finished fourth in Heat 6 of the 500 freestyle with a 4:13.64 to set a new school record and qualified 10th overall. The top qualifier was Michigan's Felix Auboeck, who clocked in at 4:10.83.

Daniel Sos posted a 1:43.40 in his heat of the 200 IM, which set a new school record. Etay Gurevich boarded a 1:43.87 in his heat of the 200 IM. They finished 22nd and 24th respectively. Andrew Seliskar of Cal had a time of 1:40.40 to be top qualifier in tonight's final.

Cardinal sprinter Andrej Barna touched in 19.20 in the final heat of the 50 free to finish 5th in the heat to qualify 15th  for the B-final, tying with Olympic gold medallist Joseph Schooling of Texas. The top qualifier was Caeleb Dressel of Florida, who established a new American record with a time of 18.11.

The Cardinals' 400 Medley Relay team had a new school record time of 3:03.68 to finish second in heat 2 with Nicolas Albiero (45.38), Carlos Claverie (51.43), Zach Harting (44.85) and Andrej Barna (42.02) cutting 1.87 off their prelim time and qualifying fifth going into this evening's final. Indiana, turned in the top qualifying time with a 3:01.87 to lead all teams by nearly a second.
