
Women's Lacrosse Opens Teeter Era with 15-9 Win at Cincinnati

CINCINNATI, Ohio – University of Louisville women's lacrosse jumped out to a 10-2 lead en route to a 15-9 victory in the season opener at Cincinnati on Friday afternoon.

With the win, the Cards move to 1-0 on the young season. It also gives head coach Scott Teeter a victory in his first game as head coach.

"The girls came out ready to play today and we built ourselves a big enough lead for us to hang on," said Teeter. "In the second half, we got away from our game plan a little bit, but they battled and played hard all game, which was great to see."

Tessa Chad got the Cards on the board first and after UC evened the game at one, Louisville proceeded to score nine of the next 10 goals to move out to a 10-2 lead.

They eventually went into the locker room at half with an 11-4 lead.

"We hit our stride there in the first half and our attack was balanced, which is good," added Teeter. "We had a lot of freshmen score their first collegiate goal during that stretch, so it wasn't just one player that was dominating, it was all seven on offense."

In the second half, the Cards were outscored 5-4, but cruised to an easy 15-9 win.

Chad had a hat trick in the first half and finished with four goals and two assists, while Jillian Balog and Sarah Blalock recorded two goals and one assist each.

Louisville utilized a balanced attack as 10 players scored goals.

Lexie Ball finished with seven saves for the Cardinals.

Louisville returns to action on Sunday for their home opener against Marquette at 1 p.m. ET.
