Schmitt Earns All-Region First Team Honor

Senior forward ranks fourth in school history in points with 69 and sixth in career goals with 26
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville senior forward Tate Schmitt was named Wednesday to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches All-South Region First Team. Wednesday's honor marked the second career All-Region accolade for Schmitt, who was a Third Team selection last season.
A native of Phoenix, Arizona, Schmitt led the Cardinals with five goals and eight assists in 19 matches this season while earning All-ACC First Team recognition. The 2018 ACC Championship Tournament MVP, Schmitt capped his collegiate career ranked fourth in school history in career points with 69 and sixth in career goals with 26. Schmitt, who was a two-time All-ACC honoree and an ACC All-Freshman Team member during his career, totaled 11 game-winning goals in his four seasons with the Cardinals, including four in the NCAA Championship.
The Cardinals ended their season with an 11-5-3 record overall following a second round loss to Michigan State in the 2018 NCAA Championship. The 2018 season was a successful one for Louisville, which earned the program's first ACC Championship title with victories over Notre Dame, Wake Forest and North Carolina in a span of eight days.
