Cardinals Begin a Three-Match Road Stretch at Wake Forest

Cardinals will face the Demon Deacons on Friday night
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Kicking off the first of three-straight matches on the road, the University of Louisville women's soccer team travels to Winston-Salem, N.C. to square off against Wake Forest on Friday at 5 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Fox Sports South. Â

The Cardinals (10-3, 4-2 ACC) are coming off a 3-0 shutout victory over Miami, where they put together a dominant performance on the offensive end and held the Hurricanes to just one shot throughout the entire match.Â

Junior forward Brooklynn Rivers leads the Cardinals on offense with eight goals and six assists for 22 points. Freshman Maisie Whitsett matches Rivers in goals with eight, while also adding two assists for 18 points. Rounding out the top scorers is sophomore Emina Ekic with three goals and four assists for 10 points. Â

In goal, Gabby Kouzelos has started all 13 matches and has registered 20 saves on the season with a goals against average of 0.93. Senior Gabrielle Vincent anchors the Cardinals' defense at centerback.Â

Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 19th season with the Cardinals. She has led Louisville to four NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.Â
SCOUTING WAKE FOREST
The Demon Deacons (6-6-1, 2-4) handed Boston College their lone loss of the season in overtime on Sept. 27 before dropping three straight matches against ranked opponents. In their most recent outing, Wake Forest fell 2-1 to Florida State on the road.Â

Offensively, Estelle Laurier and Bayley Feist lead the Demon Deacons in scoring with four goals each. Laurier has also tallied a team-leading five assists through 13 matches for 13 total points.Â

Nonie Frishette has played the entirety of each of the Demon Deacons 13 contests in goal, notching 19 saves and a goals against average of 1.42.Â

Tony da Luz is in his 21st season at the helm of the Wake Forest women's soccer program. Following the 2017 season, he held a record of 248-156-42 and has guided Wake Forest to an NCAA Tournament bid in 18 of his 21 seasons. Â
