The Cardinals have tallied 14-consecutive semesters with at least a 3.4 grade-point average.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – One of the staples of the University of Louisville women's golf program is academic success.
The Cardinals compiled a 3.54 cumulative grade-point average in the fall semester, boasting a cumulative 3.60 GPA. The program has produced 14-consecutive semesters with at least a 3.4 grade-point average, including its third straight with a 3.5.
Individually, seven Cardinals recorded at least a 3.5 GPA in the fall. Kristin Engle, a sport administration major, and Lauren Hartlage, who is majoring in finance, both achieved a 4.0 GPA during the previous semester to secure Dean's Scholar accolades. In total, eight golfers earned Athletic Director's Honor Roll accolades for finishing the semester with at least a 3.0.
“This program has a long history of high academic standards and achievements, and this semester shows that commitment to the classroom,” head coach Courtney Trimble said. “We had a great fall both on the course and in the classroom, and I could not be more proud of the hard work this team continues to put forth in all areas.”
Women's golf is one of five UofL programs that achieved perfect marks in the most recent Graduation Success Rate report in November. The team also has earned national attention for its Academic Progress Rate, which measures academic eligibility, retention, and graduation for student-athletes, attaining the NCAA Public Recognition Award seven-consecutive years.
Hartlage, Delaney Shah, and Molly Skapik were among five women's golfers last year that were named Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars for maintaining at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, the highest number of selections by any Atlantic Coast Conference school. Additionally, Hartlage and Olivia Cason were named to the all-ACC Academic Women's Golf Team.
The Cardinals, ranked No. 20 nationally by Golfweek, completed their five-event schedule in the fall, with victories at the Cardinal Cup and Ladies Fall Intercollegiate Invitational and two additional top-five finishes. It is the first back-to-back team titles for Cardinals since 2014-15.
Louisville begins the spring portion of its schedule on Jan. 29, with the Florida Challenge/Battle of the Bluegrass State in Lecanto, Fla.
