
Baseball Notebook: Cardinals Return to Campus, Begin Preseason Work

Ticket sales continue for Leadoff Dinner; UofL players to sign autographs at Saturday’s men’s basketball game
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Less than six weeks from the 2018 season-opener, the University of Louisville baseball team reported back to campus over the weekend before kicking off its 2018 preseason preparations with a busy Monday.
The Cardinals, ranked 21st in the Collegiate Baseball newspaper preseason poll, started their preseason work with a Monday morning shuttle run inside the Trager Center before conducting their first round of individual skill instruction in the afternoon at Jim Patterson Stadium. The team, which also started the spring semester with classes on Monday, will continue its individual skill instruction until Jan. 26, the first day of full-squad practices for all NCAA Division I teams.Â
Louisville is slated to open its 56-game regular season schedule on Feb. 16-18 in Charleston, South Carolina with a trio of games at The Charleston Crab House Challenge hosted by The Citadel at Joseph P. Riley Park. The Cardinals will face Richmond on Feb. 16 at noon ET, The Citadel on Feb. 17 at 3 p.m., and George Mason on Feb. 18 at 11 a.m. The 2018 home-opener for Louisville is set for Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m., ET at Jim Patterson Stadium against Eastern Kentucky.

As the countdown to the 2018 season continues, the anticipation for the 22nd annual Louisville Baseball Leadoff Dinner presented by Republic also continues to build. This year's event, set for Jan. 26 at 7 p.m., ET at the Louisville Marriott Downtown, is headlined by University of Louisville baseball alumni Adam Engel and Kyle McGrath. CARDINALS TO SIGN SCHEDULE POSTERS PRIOR TO SATURDAY'S MEN'S BASKETBALL GAME
Members of the 2018 Louisville baseball team will be signing schedule posters in the lobbies throughout the KFC Yum! Center prior Saturday's UofL men's basketball game against Virginia Tech. The players will be in game uniforms and will begin signing posters when doors open at 2:30 p.m., ET, while tipoff for the ACC contest is set for 4 p.m.
LOUISVILLE BASEBALL WINTER CAMPS SET FOR JAN. 20-21
The University of Louisville baseball program will host its annual Winter Camps on Jan. 20-21 and a limited number of spots remain each day. The camps are open to anyone in grades 1-12 and will focus on hitting, pitching and defense each day. The camps are priced at $125 per person each day and include lunch. Season tickets for the 2018 Louisville baseball season are on sale now and can be purchased online at GoCards.com/bsbtickets, by calling 502-GO-CARDS or by visiting the Louisville Cardinals Ticket Office, located near Gate 2 at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium (2800 South Floyd Street) on weekdays from 9 a.m., until 5 p.m.
Reserved chairback ticket packages are priced at $150 for adults (less than $4.50 per game), $120 for senior adults/youth (less than $4 per game) and $480 for a Family 4-Pack (less than $4 per game per ticket). Season tickets for the Left Field Berm are also available at $100 for adults (less than $3 per game), $80 for senior adults/youth (less than $2.50 per game) and $320 for a Family 4-Pack (less than $2.50 per game per ticket).
Single game tickets for the 2018 season will be priced at $10 for reserved chairback and $5 for berm and will be available for purchase at a later date. Season ticket packages include all regular season home games at Jim Patterson Stadium with the exception of the annual Elementary School Day game, played each March during a weekday afternoon. For Elementary School Day, season tickets will provide admission to the game but will not include a reserved seat.
With a listed capacity of 4,000, Jim Patterson Stadium has hosted six crowds of more than 6,000 fans in the last two seasons, including three in 2017. Fresh off a fourth trip to the NCAA Men's College World Series and third straight ACC Atlantic Division Championship, Louisville baseball has become the must-see event for Cardinals fans in the spring.
