Track and Field Finishes with a Win and a School Record at the Crimson Tide Invitational

Oliver Newport and Emmonnie Henderson lead the Cardinals on Saturday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Louisville track and field teams finished competition at the Crimson Tide Invitational with one win, one school record and 17 top five finishes. Oliver Newport finished with his first win of the season in the long jump while Emmonnie Henderson set a new school record in the shot put.
Newport opened his outdoor season with a win in the long jump. He finished with mark of 7.40m/24-03.50 for the win. Henderson finished second in the shot put with a personal best throw of 17.50m/57-05.00. The throw passed the meet record while breaking Chinwe Okoro's school record of 17.39m/57-0.75 set in 2012.
Other highlights from the day were Edwin Kibichiy's second place finish in the men's 1500m. His time of 3:46.56 was a season best time and was a new meet record. Emily Bryan finished second in the javelin throw with a season best toss of 40.76m/133-09. Martice Moore finished second in the 400 meter hurdles with a season best time of 51.45.
Morgan Zacharias finished third in the pole vault with a new personal best mark of 4.07m/13-04.25. Bre'Yana Wash finished third in the long jump with a mark of 6.05m/19-10.25. Henderson also finished third in the discus with a season best throw of 50.80m/166-08.
Halee Hudson finished third in the javelin with a throw of 40.52m/132-11. Jerin Allen finished third in the high jump with an outdoor personal best jump of 2.14m/7-00.25 while teammate Javen Reeves finished right behind him with a season best mark of 2.14m/7-00.25. Both Allen and Reeves also broke the meet record with their marks.
The Cardinals will be back in action next weekend as they host the Louisville Invitational April 14-15.
