
Track and Field Wraps Up First Day at the Louisville Invitational on Friday

Cardinals compete in the men's and women's hammer throw
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville track and field teams opened up the Louisville Invitational on Friday with the men's and women's hammer throw. The men scored 13 points in the event while the women scored eight for the team standings.
"Today was a great start to the Louisville Invitational," said head coach Dale Cowper. "The weather is going to be beautiful all weekend and it would great to see Card fans stop by Cardinal Park on the way to or from the spring game tomorrow afternoon."
Trevor Troutman led the Cardinals with a third place finish in the hammer throw. He finished with a throw of 62.19m/204-00. Darrius Lopez finished fourth with a throw of 56.89m/186-08. Mitchell Kessler finished seventh with a personal best throw of 52.66m/172-09 while Spencer Harris finished ninth with a personal best throw of 47.79m/156-09.
Cyerra Cassell led the Cardinal women in the hammer. She finished with a personal best throw of 57.96m/190-02 to finish fourth. Emmonnie Henderson finished sixth with a personal best throw of 53.10m/174-02.
The Cardinals will be back in action Saturday with a full day of events in the Louisville Invitational. The first event of the day will be the men's javelin throw at 10:00 a.m. in Cardinal Park. The meet will conclude with the men's and women's 4x400 meter relay at 5:20 p.m.
