Cardinals Draw with Indy Eleven in Spring Friendly

Louisville continues spring schedule at Chicago Fire on March 25
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team opened its spring exhibition schedule with a 0-0 draw against Indy Eleven of the North American Soccer League on Friday night at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium.
The Cardinals closed the match against Indy Eleven with a 7-6 edge in shots. Goalkeepers Jake Gelnovatch and Will Meyer combined for six saves for Louisville. Louisville's best chance for a goal in the first half came in the 38th minute when Mohamed Thiaw narrowly missed over the crossbar with a shot.
The home side continued its attack in the second half with a flurry of chances in the 48th minute. After a shot from Adrien Cabon was blocked in the 51st minute, Tim Kubel found Cody Cochran near the back post, but his header missed just wide of target. Tate Schmitt also had a pair of chances missing high on a header in the 73rd minute and striking the crossbar in the 76th minute. Meyer then kept the teams even with a strong save in the 80th minute.
Up next, the Cardinals will continue their spring slate with a visit to the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer on Saturday, March 25. Louisville will return home to host Wisconsin on Saturday, April 1 at 7 p.m., before closing the home schedule against Xavier on Friday, April 7 at 7 p.m. The Cardinals will conclude the spring at Lindsey Wilson College on Friday, April 14 at 7 p.m.
