Lacrosse Wins Third Straight with a 14-8 Win over Cincinnati

Hannah Koloski and Meghan Siverson lead the Cardinals with four goals each
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The 20th ranked Louisville lacrosse team defeated Cincinnati 14-8 on Wednesday night at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium. The Cardinals improve to 6-1 on the season while the Bearcats fall to 1-2. Hannah Koloski and Meghan Siverson led the Cardinals with four goals each.Â
The Cardinals jumped out to a 3-0 lead to start the game. Koloski scored on the first possession off a free position shot. Siverson scored on the next two possession to put Louisville up 3-0 at the 26:20 mark.Â
The Bearcats scored on the next possession to cut the lead to 3-1. The Cardinals responded with a 6-0 run, the longest scoring run of the season, to take a 9-1 lead. Madison Hoover found Heidi Smith to start the run which lasted nine minutes. Stephanie McNamara found Ashley Lynch for the second goal with 19:27 left in the half. Lynch then found Koloski two minutes later to put the Cards up 6-1.Â
McKayla Conti found Siverson in the 17th minute for a goal. Conti scored the next two goals to give Louisville a 9-1 lead with 14 minutes left in the half. Cincinnati score two straight goals to cut the lead to 9-3. The Cardinals responded with a 3-0 lead to take a 12-3 lead with 25 seconds remaining in the half. Koloski scored on a free position goal in the seventh minute. Elise Koehl scored off an assist from Jillian Balog at the 2:25 mark. Conti then scored with 25 seconds left. The Bearcats were able to score with three seconds left to cut the lead to 12-4 at the half. Â
Cincinnati started the scoring in the second half with a 3-0 run to cut the Louisville lead to 12-7 in the first five minutes. Siverson responded by winning the draw control on the next possession and racing to the net for the unassisted goal.
The Bearcats scored at the 11:58 mark to cut the Cardinal lead to 13-8. Koloski scored the final goal of the game at the 5:48 mark. She ran past her defender to scoop the shot in the bottom of the net to give Louisville a 14-8 win.Â
Cincinnati finished the game with 26-25 edge in shots while Louisville finished with a 15-11 ground ball advantage. The Bearcats finished with a 14-10 advantage at the draw, including five draws in the second half.Â
Brittany Read finished with 13 saves while the Bearcats finished with eight saves. Taylor Webster led the Cardinals with two caused turnovers. Hoover led the Cardinals with three ground balls and Siverson finished with seven draws.
Overall, six players scored goals for the Cardinals. Conti finished with three while Lynch Smith and Koehl each scored one. Hoover led the Cardinals with two assists.Â
The Cardinals will be back in action on Saturday, March 4 as they open up ACC play at Notre Dame at 1:00 p.m. Â
