Women's Lacrosse Faces Marquette and Robert Morris This Weekend

Cardinals travel to Marquette on Friday and host Robert Morris on Sunday
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The No. 18/19 University of Louisville lacrosse team travels to Milwaukee to face Marquette on Friday at 4:00 p.m. ET. The Cardinals have a quick turnaround when they welcome Robert Morris to UofL Lacrosse Stadium for a Sunday matchup at 1:00 p.m.

Louisville enters the weekend slate after defeating Vermont last Sunday, 19-8. Four Cardinals recorded hat tricks in the season opener with sophomore McKayla Conti leading the way with six goals, while fellow sophomore Meghan Siverson scored five. Seniors Hannah Koloski and Heidi Smith both tallied three goals in the victory. Stephanie McNamara saw her defensive efforts against Vermont rewarded as she was named the ACC Defender of the Week.

Marquette will open their season when they play Louisville on Friday. Marquette finished last season with a 7-10 record, in which the team averaged 10.41 goals per game and allowed 10.41 goals per game last season. The Golden Eagles return their four leading scorers, including Julianna Shearer who scored a team high 36 goals while adding four assists.

Louisville leads the all time series, 3-0, including a 14-6 win in their last meeting on February 6, 2016 at UofL Lacrosse Stadium.

Robert Morris enters Sunday's matchup having lost their season opener at Bucknell, 10-11. Down 10-2 at halftime, the Colonials mounted a comeback, but were unable to find the tying goal to send the game into overtime. Robert Morris got a big performance out of their freshman midfielder, Annie Sachs, who scored two goals while assisting on four others.

This will be the second time Louisville has played Robert Morris with the Cardinals defeating the Colonials 19-3 on March 2, 2008 at UofL Lacrosse Stadium.
