Rivera Named AVCA All-American Honorable Mention

Rivera was the ACC Setter of the Year
University of Louisville setter Wilma Rivera was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association's (AVCA)  All-American Honorable Mention team.Â
Rivera, who earned AVCA First Team All-East Region Honors, was the ACC Setter of the Year and first team All-ACC.  The Carolina, Puerto Rico, native and a member of the Puerto Rico National Team, she recorded 1,215 assists on the year, which ranked third in the league, and averaged 10.66 assists per set. Her jump serve has landed a team-high 36 times for an ace and she is second on the team in digs with 332. She also had 50 blocks for the Cardinals.
Her leadership helped Louisville to the ACC Championship after being chosen eighth in the coaches preseason poll. The Cardinals finished their season at 24-7, 18-2 in league play, and were the only ACC team to go undefeated at home in conference matches. Â
