Men's Tennis Picks Up Six Wins to Open Dick Vitale Lakewood Ranch Clay Court Classic

Lancaster picks up two wins in singles
The University of Louisville men's tennis team picked up six wins on day one of the Dick Vitale Lakewood Ranch Clay Court Classic Friday afternoon.
"The transition to clay courts is always difficult," said UofL assistant coach Jakob Gustafsson. "I thought we did a really good job today with having two guys in the quarterfinals. We had bad luck in doubles with the draw as I think we could have made a really good run there too. I'm looking forward to another tough day tomorrow and hope we can pull some upsets and make the final here."
The Cardinals picked up a doubles win to start the day when junior Federico Gomez and senior Nicolas Rouanet teamed to beat Auburn's Ciego Chavarria and Carles Sarrio 8-0.
In singles action, junior Brandon Lancater picked up a pair of wins, defeating UCF's Vasyl Kiselyov 7-6, 6-2 and Auburn's Brandon Laubser 6-3, 6-0. Rouanet defeated Florida Gulf Coast's Mateo Ruiz 6-2, 7-5 while sophomore Clement Filho topped Florida's Jordan Belga 7-5, 2-6, 10-4.
The tournament will continue on Saturday.
