LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Former University of Louisville women's golf standout Laura Restrepo is continuing her pursuit of competing on the LPGA Tour, participating in Stage II of the LPGA Qualifying Tournament at Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice, Fla.
The 192-player field is playing from Thursday through Monday on both the Bobcat and Panther courses to advance to Final Stage of LPGA Qualifying School, where 20 golfers will earn their full LPGA cards for 2018.
The low 80 and ties following the final round will advance to the final stage of qualifying. There is no cut, and the golfers that do not finish in the top 80 will still have Symetra Tour membership for the 2018 campaign.
The Panama City native, in her first full year on the Symetra Tour, advanced beyond Stage I in August, aided by her tie for 37th at the PHC Classic and tie for 30th at the Murphy USA El Dorado Shootout.
Restrepo started the year with immediate success in the National Women's Golf Association. She won her second and third events of the year, capturing titles at the Zellwood Station CC and LPGA International. She shot even or below par in all six rounds in the victories, including a 7-under-par 65 at the Zellwood Station Country Club.
She added to her resume in the NWGA with two second-place finishes, wrapping up her time with 10 top-10 marks in 13 tournaments.
A three-time all-conference selection, Restrepo starred at Louisville from 2012-16. The first all-ACC honoree in school history, she capped her career at Louisville with 16 top-10 finishes and a 74.16-stroke average, fourth best in program annals.
