Women's Tennis Completes Day One at Mizzou Invitational
September 24, 2016 | Women's Tennis
Cards played both singles and doubles against competitive field.
The University of Louisville were 6-2 in doubles and 4-4 in singles with three losses in three sets in the first day of competition at the Mizzou Invitational.Â
"We had a good start to the new season today. We were a couple of matches away from a great day. We were noticeably better in doubles, going 6-2 on the day. We let two 3-set matches get away tht we definitely could have won and that's what kept us from having a great day. Good start, but I want to see if we can play better on Saturday," said Mark Beckham, UofL head coach.Â
The Cards had wins in doubles over Memphis when Sena Suswam and Olivia Boesing beat Hanna Sohn and Gabrielle Paul 6-3 and Ariana Rodriguez teamed with Jessie Paul to beat Josephine Cao and Katherine Cao 6-1. Abbie Pahz and Mariana Humber beat Anki Wind and Clara Kuehn 6-2.
Against Missouri, Abbie Pahz and Mariana Humberg beat Bea Machado Santos and Tate Schroeder 6-2 before Olivia Boesing paired with Elle Stokes to defeat Amina Ismail and Mackenzy Middlebrooks 6-4.Â
In singles versus Nebraska, Elle Stokes beat Jeannie Lozowski 6-3, 6-3, Abbie Pahz beat Lisa Andersson 6-1, 6-0 and Jessie Paul beat Mary Hannah 6-1, 6-0. The Cards got a win from newcomer TiffanyHuber who beat Hayley Haakenstad 6-3, 6-2.
