Cross Country to Compete in the Commodore Classic on Saturday

Both teams travel to Nashville for the second competition of the season

Start Times: 10 a.m. EST Men's 8K | 11 a.m. EST Women's 5K
Place: Percy Warner Park in Nashville, Tenn.
THE FIELD: The race will feature 26 schools, including three who appeared in the latest USTFCCCA rankings.
The University of Louisville women's cross country is looking to win back-to-back meets after winning their first meet of the year, while the men finished third, when they travel to Nashville, Tenn. for the Commodore Classic on Saturday morning. The men's 8K event begins at 10 a.m. with the women's 5K event following at 11 a.m.
The men's and women's team had impressive finishes in Dayton for the season opener, finishing first and third in both events. Freshman Dorcas Wasike paced the women's field with a time of 18:03.1 to anchor the women to their first victory of the season. Sophomore Caroline Gosser crossed the finish line in third behind Wasike with a time of 18:26.1 while junior Bailey Davis took fifth with a time of 18:33.4. In all, the women had five athletes finish in the top 10 with junior Mia Ross (7th) and senior Clair Noser (8th) both finish with respectable times.
Senior Edwin Kibichiy paced the men's field, winning with a time of 15:15.0 to help the Cardinals to a third place finish for the first meet of the season. Fellow senior Calvin Chemoiyo crossed third behind Kibichiy with a time of 15:20.4, while junior George Yator finished 12th at 15:49.5.
Following this weekend's competition, the Cardinals will prepare for the Greater Louisville Classic on Oct. 1 at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.
