Louisville Welcomes Quinnipiac to Lynn Stadium on Monday Night

Kickoff for Cardinals and Bobcats set for 7:30 p.m., ET
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -Â The University of Louisville men's soccer team plays its second straight home match as Quinnipiac visits Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium on Monday at 7:30 p.m., ET. ABOUT THE CARDINALS
Louisville kicked off the 2016 season with a scoreless draw against Butler on Friday night at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. The match, played in front of a crowd of 3,018 was the first of 10 home matches for the Cardinals in 2016.
The Cardinals returned eight players with 13 or more starts from last year's team, including the top three goal scorers in sophomore Tate Schmitt (seven goals), senior Daniel Johnson (five goals) and junior Tim Kubel (five goals). Schmitt was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team, while Kubel (First Team) and Johnson (Second Team) were tabbed All-ACC selections last season.

Quinnipiac enters Monday's matchup at 0-1-0 on the season after dropping a 2-0 decision at ACC foe Boston College on Friday night. Last season, the Bobcats were 2-11-6 overall and finished 10th in the 11-team Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Under the guidance of 12th-year head coach Eric De Costa, Quinnipiac was picked to finish seventh in the MAAC in 2016 by the conference's head coaches.Â

Monday marks the first ever meeting on the soccer pitch between Louisville and Quinnipiac. The Bobcats are the first of back-to-back opponents for the Cardinals from the state of Connecticut. Louisville challenges UConn on Friday night in Storrs.Â
CARDINALS TABBED FIFTH IN ACC ATLANTIC
Louisville was picked fifth in the ACC Atlantic Division according to a vote of the conference's 12 head coaches released Aug. 17. The Cardinals tallied 28 points, while 2015 NCAA College Cup runner-up Clemson was selected as the favorite in the Atlantic. North Carolina was chosen as the favorite in the Coastal and was tabbed to win the league championship. Clemson totaled 64 points and six first place votes as the Atlantic favorite. Wake Forest also had six first place votes for the division and was second with 62 points. Syracuse, which made its first trip to the College Cup last year, was third with 50 points, followed by Boston College (34), Louisville (28) and NC State (14).

• The Cardinals were 6-3-2 at home last season and are 13-6-6 all-time at Lynn Stadium, now in its third season as the home pitch for Louisville.
