
Worrell is 7th in 200-Fly; Advances to 100-free Final at Olympic Trials

Comerford and Cottrell both put up lifetime bests in semi-finals
The University of Louisville swimmers competed in a final and two semi-finals events at the U.S. Olympic Trials Thursday night in Omaha, Neb. Â

Olympian Kelsi Worrell finished seventh in the finals of the 200-meter butterfly with a time of 2:11.85. Cammile Adams won the event with a time of 2:06.80, which ranks her seventh in the world this year. Hali Flickinger, who led at the 100 meter mark, posted a 2:07.50, the 14th best time in the world this year.

Both Mallory Comerford and Kelsi Worrell had lifetime best times in the 100-meter freestyle semi-final. Comerford went 54.61 and Worrell put up 54.00 to advance to the final tomorrow night in 6th place overall. American record holder Abbey Weitzeil was the top qualifier swam a 53.57,  Simone Manuel won the first semifinal heat in 53.64, moving her to 11th in the world this year.

 In the 200-meter breaststroke semi-finals, Andrea Cottrell touched in 6th position in her heat with a 2:28.36 and was 14th overall.  Short course American record holder Lilly King won with a 2:24.03.
