Lacrosse Hosts Brown in First Game Under the Lights Wednesday Night

Cardinals play first night game in the history of the program against Brown
LOUISVILLE, KY. – The No. 5/7 University of Louisville women's lacrosse team will play their first ever night game at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium as they host Brown in their final non-conference matchup of the season on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.

The Cardinals boast an 11-1 record and is currently riding a four-game winning streak after defeating Virginia Tech 15-9 in ACC action on Saturday afternoon. Against Virginia Tech, the Cardinals had four players post a hat trick while sophomore goalkeeper Brittany Read had 10 saves to lead the team to a 15-9 conference victory over the Hokies. Junior Hannah Koloski led the team with four goals while Kelli Gerding, Kaylin Morissette, and Cortnee Daley each added three in the win. Morissette also added three assists and Gerding had two of her own to help the cause.

Morissette continues to lead the way for the Cardinals in scoring with 42 points, scoring 29 goals and adding 13 assists. She leads the nation with 121 draw controls, averaging 10.08 draws a game. Daley is second on the team with 35 points (27 goals and eight assists). Koloski leads the team with 32 goals and adds two assists for 34 points while Gerding boasts a team-high 17 assists with 17 goals for 34 points. In the cage, Read boasts a .546 save percentage, which is fourth in the nation. The sophomore goalkeeper has 95 saves on the season and boasts a 6.51 goals against average, which is seventh in the nation.Â

Brown enters the matchup with a 4-4 overall record after falling 10-2 to Cornell on Saturday. The Bears are led offensively by Lauren Toy who has a team-high 23 points (16 goals and seven assists). Kerianne Hunt adds seven goals and four assists for 11 points while Rose Mangiarotti adds 10 goals. The Bears boast one of the top defenses in the nation as they hold opponents to 7.13 goals a game, which is 12th in the nation. In the cage, Victoria Holland has started every game and has recorded a .510 save percentage, which is 13th in the nation, and has a 7.29 goals against average.

This is the first ever meeting between the two teams. This is also the first time Louisville Lacrosse has played any team from the Ivy League.
