
No. 11 Lacrosse Hosts No. 10 Northwestern on Thursday Afternoon

Cardinals and Wildcats clash in a Top 20 matchup
LOUISVILLE, KY. – The University of Louisville women's lacrosse team will return to action for a non-conference tilt this Thursday when they take on No. 10 Northwestern at 1:00 p.m. at the UofL Lacrosse Stadium.

The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 5-0 after a thrilling 7-6 overtime victory over No. 14 Boston College this past Saturday to open ACC play. Kaylin Morissette and Kelli Gerding scored two goals each and Hannah Koloski scored the game-winning goal off of a free position with 9.8 seconds left in the first overtime period.
Morissette continues to lead the way for the Cardinals in scoring with 17 points, scoring 13 goals and four assists. Koloski and Morissette are tied for the team lead in goals with 13 while Kelli Gerding paces the team in assists with eight. Sophomore Brittany Read has started all five games in goal, recording a 4.90 goals against average with 37 saves on the year.
Northwestern enters the game with an overall record of 1-2 with a win over No. 4 Duke to begin the season. The Wildcats have lost their last two games to No. 10 Virginia and No. 2 Syracuse. This will be their fourth-consecutive game against a ranked opponent this season.
Senior Kaleigh Craig leads the Wildcats with nine points from seven goals and two assists. Craig is tied with Selena Lasota and Sheila Nesselbush with a team-high seven goals apiece and Christina Esposito is leading the team in assists with three. Mallory Weisse has started all three games for the Wildcats and has posted an 11.33 goals against average with 25 saves.

Northwestern leads the series 4-0 and this will be the Wildcats' second trip to Louisville all-time. The Cardinals and Wildcats faced off twice last season with Northwestern winning 12-10 during the regular season matchup and 10-7 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
