Cards send stellar group to championship
The University of Louisville women's swimming and diving team is set for the competition at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech which will play host to the 2016 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, which will take place Wednesday through Saturday. Preliminary events begin each day at 10 a.m., with finals held at 6 p.m.

Andrea Acquista, Rachael Bradford Feldman, Mallory Comerford, Andrea Cottrell, Abigail Houck, Alina Kendzior, Andrea Kneppers, Marah Pugh, and Kelsi Worrell will represent Louisville at the national meet. The Cardinals also qualified all five relays, meaning Alex Sellers, Hannah Magnuson and Ashley LeClair will attend as part of those relay teams only.

Kelsi Worrell qualified 4th in the 50 free (21.85), first in the 100 fly (50.06) and first in the 200 fly (1:51.36). Freshman Mallory Comerford qualified 2nd in the 200 freestyle (1:42.79), 6th in the 500-free (4:38.01) and 17th in the 100-free (48.31).

Andrea Kneppers quallfied 31st in the 500 freestyle. Rachael Bradford Feldman qualified 32nd in the 200 IM (1:57.48) and 15th in the 400 IM (4:07.89).

Andrea Cottrell qualified third in the 100 breast (58.26), 7th in the 200 breast (2:07.42), and 39th in the 200 IM (1:57.90).

Alina Kendzior qualified 32nd in the 200 IM (1:57.71), 35th in the 100 back (52.79).

Marah Pugh put up the 15th fastest time in the 200 fly (1:55.63)

Abigail Houck qualified 24th in the 200 fly (1:56.05) and 36th in the 200 free (1:45.83).
Andrea Acquista qualified in 1-meter, 3-meter springboard and platform diving.Â
The Cardinals also qualified second in the 200 Medley Relay (1:35.43), third in the 400 Medley Relay (3:28.32), seventh in the 200-free relay (1:28.20), 11th in the 800 free relay (7:01.01) and 13th in the 400 free relay (3:14.86)

A total of 322 participants (281 swimmers and 41 divers) will compete in the championships. Swimmers qualified for the championships by meeting the established minimum time for the events in which they entered. Divers will be determined by performances at the Zone Diving Meets held March 7-12. The complete list of all swimmers competing in the championships is available at www.usaswimming.org/ncaa. Selected divers will be announced Sunday, March 13.

 ESPN3.com will stream finals sessions on Friday and Saturday live. Wednesday's evening session, Thursday's sessions, along with the morning sessions on Friday and Saturday, will be streamed live on NCAA.com. Additionally, ESPNU will air a two-hour broadcast via tape delay at 7 p.m. ET, Tuesday, March 29.
The ACC will be well represented at this year's championship, with 60 individuals and 24 relay squads having qualified for the event from 10 different league programs. Â

Four ACC teams are ranked in the CSCAA Poll entering the championship. Fresh off its ACC Championship, Virginia sits at No. 5 in the country and is followed by No. 10 NC State, No. 15 North Carolina, and No. 17 Louisville.

Two ACC swimmers enter the meet as defending champions in multiple events. Louisville's Kelsi Worrell won the 100 and 200 butterfly titles last year, while Virginia's Leah Smith was victorious in the 500 and 1,650 freestyle. In the team standings last season, seven ACC teams finished in the top 25, led by No. 5 Virginia and No. 6 Louisville.

For the second time in program history, Georgia Tech and the McAuley Aquatic Center will serve as the host site for the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships. Georgia Tech previously hosted the 2006 NCAA Championships and the CRC was also the site of the 1996 Summer Olympics swimming and diving competitions.
