September 29, 2015 | Rowing
Event begins at 10:30 a.m., ET at G. Garvin Brown III Rowing Center on River Road
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The ninth annual Red & Black Regatta hosted by the University of Louisville rowing team is set for Saturday at 10:30 a.m., ET at the G. Garvin Brown III Rowing Center at Waterfront Park on River Road.
The event is scheduled to include several intra-squad scrimmage races followed by a cookout with the rowers and coaches. The annual Red & Black Regatta is the only chance for fans and supporters to see the Cardinals compete at home during the 2015-16 season.
This is a fun event where UofL fans and supporters as well as the parents and families of the rowers can watch the team compete in the city of Louisville. There will also be boats and ergs on display along the river and it will be a great way for people to learn more about the sport of rowing.
The Red & Black Regatta will begin with a welcome from head coach Derek Copeland and will be followed by introductions of the Cardinals rowers and coaching staff and recognition of Louisville's success from the 2014-15 season. The boats are scheduled to launch at 10:50 a.m., and will be followed by the racing, which should be completed by approximately 12:20 p.m. The cookout is set to follow the racing.
The sport of rowing is a unique and exciting sport and because it's not in the spotlight, this event is the perfect way for great fans to see it in person. It's also a wonderful way for the fans to meet the student-athletes and get to know some of the great women we have on this team.
The Cardinal Pride Pep Band and Cardinal Bird mascot will also be in attendance, while raffle drawings will be held throughout the day. Louisville rowing gear will also be on sale throughout the day. Directions to the G. Garvin Brown III Rowing Center can be found online here.
