Cardinals host the Panthers for an ACC match
LOUISVILLE, KY. - The University of Louisville women's soccer team continue their three-game home stand this weekend with a conference matchup against the Pittsburgh Panthers at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
Louisville enters the match with an overall record of 4-4-1 and a 1-1-0 record in ACC play after defeating Miami 1-0 on Thursday night at Lynn Stadium. Alison Price connected on her second goal of the season from a Casey Whitfield cross and the Cardinals defense held off the Hurricanes late to take their third shutout of the season. Junior goalkeeper Taylor Bucklin had a season-high eight saves in the win.
For the season, eight Cardinals have scored this season with redshirt-senior Casey Whitfield and sophomore Alison Price leading the way with two goals. Price adds an assist with her two goals for five points, which is second on the team. Senior Rachel Avant adds a goal and two assists for four points. Junior goalkeepers Taylor Bucklin (23 saves) and Paige Brown (14 saves) have both seen time in goal this season with the two combining for a 1.08 goals against average.
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 16th season with the Cardinals. She has guided Louisville to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
SCOUTING PITTSBURGH
Pittsburgh enters Sunday's ACC matchup as one of the hottest teams in the league. The Panthers are currently on a seven game winning streak and boast an overall record of 8-1-1 (2-0-0 ACC) and is coming off a 2-1 overtime win over Wake Forest on Thursday night. The win allowed the Panthers to match their program high of eight wins in a season.
The Panthers are led by freshman forward Jarena Harmon who has a team-high six goals and an assist. Sophomore forward Taylor Pryce adds four goals and four assists while senior forward Roosa Arvas adds three goals and five assists for the Panthers. In goal, junior Taylor Francis leads the Panthers with 41 saves and boasts an ACC best 0.48 goals against average and a .891 save percentage. Francis also has posted five shutouts on the season.
Greg Miller is in his 4th season as the head women's soccer coach at Pittsburgh after coaching at Ohio State for the previous 11 seasons.

The Cardinals and Panthers will meet for the sixth time in series history. The Cardinals lead the series 4-1 including last season's 1-0 overtime victory in Pittsburgh.
