ROCHESTER, Mich. - The 18th-ranked Louisville men's soccer team closed its exhibition schedule with a 90-minute, scoreless draw at Oakland on Saturday night.
The Cardinals finished with a 13-8 advantage in shots over the Golden Grizzlies, including a 5-3 edge in shots on goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Nick Jeffs played all 90 minutes for Louisville and finished with a pair of saves in the shutout performance.
"It was a game where we dominated possession yet did not create enough quality chances. The effort was good and something to build on," said Cardinals head coach Ken Lolla.
Louisville's three-game preseason slate featured a 1-0 win over Lipscomb, a penalty kicks win over UAB after playing to a 3-3 draw and Saturday's scoreless draw at Oakland. Both UAB and Oakland were 2014 NCAA Championship qualifiers and are expected to be strong postseason contenders this fall.
Up next, No. 18 Louisville will host William & Mary on Friday at 7:30 p.m., ET at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium in the 2015 regular season opener.
