LOUISVILLE, Ky. - With the 2015 opener just eight days away, the Louisville men's soccer team previewed the upcoming season during Thursday's media day activities at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium.
Head coach Ken Lolla, senior Ben Strong, juniors Andrew Brody and Romilio Hernandez and sophomore Tim Kubel met with reporters as the 18th-ranked Cardinals continue their preseason preparations. Last week, Louisville was tabbed by ACC coaches as the preseason favorite to win the 2015 Atlantic Division championship.
One of just four programs to advance to the third round of the NCAA Championship four times in the last five seasons, Louisville has reached the postseason eight consecutive years under Lolla, who begins his 10th season at the helm. The 2015 season will also be the Cardinals' second at Lynn Stadium, the nation's premier collegiate facility. Louisville's 11-match regular season slate at the stadium includes matchups against No. 8 Stanford on Aug. 31, Kentucky on Sept. 8, No. 22 Saint Louis on Sept. 15, Virginia Tech on Sept. 18 and UConn on Oct. 13.
No. 18 Louisville will conclude its preseason schedule on Saturday at 7 p.m., ET at Oakland and the match will be televised on ESPN3. The Cardinals will open the regular season against William & Mary on Aug. 28 at 7:30 p.m., at Lynn Stadium.
