Eleni Georgiafandis Has Her Day on the Volleyblog
August 19, 2015 | Women's Volleyball
Today started unlike any other day. We were surprised with a charter plane ride to the beach where we soaked up some sun, rode some waves and sipped from coconuts under the shade. After that, my alarm went off, the dream dissipated, and it was time for Day 9 of preseason.
It started like every other preseason day. I walked up for breakfast with the false hope that a 12 dozen box of Dunkin Donut holes would be waiting for me, but instead I consumed my "usual" (two pieces of toast with grape jelly and a nature valley bar).
The first session went well. We dominated our drills and met our standard for blue line serving (as seen in Maggie DeJong's blog). During our lunch break, I had to go pick up a package that was sent to me from the best parents in the world that contained some Knoxville, Tennessee local snacks. Treatment went great as usual thanks to our wonderful trainer Nicole Lowery. We would all be dead by now if it was not for her.
Our second session was competitive and fast pace, just how we like it. Our coaching staff never ceases to amaze us with the powerful drills they can present to us. The ice bath today was cold per the usual. It's always fun watching Katie George trying to submerge herself to her hips. Not only is she not flexible, but her complaints are second to none. Good thing she is pretty.
Our dinner consisted of delicious baked parmesan chicken, fantastic bow tie pasta, and the best sweet rolls I have ever tasted in all my 19 years of living.
We ended with an education session all about offense and how we are going to attack every opponent we play.
But in all seriousness, I am so incredibly excited about our 2015 season. This team is special and I foresee us doing extraordinary things this fall. I love every single one of my teammates more than anything and I cannot wait for you all to see the Cards conquer the ACC this year.
L's Up!!! See you this fall.
