Volleyball Adds Transfer Kali Eaken

Kali Eaken, a 5-10 setter from Kansas City, Mo., is transferring to the University of Louisville. Eaken, redshirted her first season at Kansas State, and will have four seasons of eligibility remaining.
"I recruited Kali in high school, so I have had the chance to watch her play since she was a sophomore," said Anne Kordes. "What immediately stands out about Kali is her competitiveness. She is a tremendous court leader that has the ability to influence her teammates to continue competing."
Eaken had an outstanding prep career at Bishop Miege High School where she was Named 2013-14 Gatorade Kansas Volleyball Player of the Year and 2013-14 First Team Under Armour All-American. A highly sought-after player, she was ranked No. 27 nationally in the Class of 2014 by PrepVolleyball.com. She was the 2013 Kansas Volleyball Association(KVA) 4-1A Player of the Year as well as the 2013 Eastern Kansas League Player of the Year.
A three-time First Team All-State selection, she was also named 2014 The Kansas City Star All-Metro First Team and was one of 53 finalists for the 2014 PrepVolleyball.com Andi Collins Award, which recognizes the best senior setter in the nation. Named to Volleyball Magazine's 2014 Girls' Fab 50, she was the fourth Gatorade Kansas Volleyball Player of the Year from Bishop Miege High wher she Led them to a 34-10 record and Class 4A Division I state title as a senior in 2013. In 2013, she had 1,128 assists, 281 digs, 168 kills, 43 blocks, and 39 aces and was named MaxPreps/AVCA Kansas High School Player of the Week.
"Kali is also a worker, which is what I am always drawn to as a coach,' said Kordes. "She wants to understand her position at an intellectual level and give herself every advantage to win in every situation. She brings intensity and a work ethic that will fit in well with our gym culture."
Eaken is a standout in the classroom as well, earning Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll honors in the Fall of 2014.
