Women's Golf in Ninth at ACC Championship
April 17, 2015 | Women's Golf

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Emily Haas has played some of the best golf of her career at the conference championships, and the senior, after tying a season-low round, is on her way to her best outing of the season.
A senior, Haas opened the Atlantic Coast Conference Women's Golf Championship with a 2-under-par 70 on Friday morning and is tied for 10th on the individual leaderboard after 27 holes of competition. Through her first 18, she totaled four birdies and tacked on her fifth of the day through the next nine.
The Cardinals, collectively, are ninth in their inaugural ACC Championship after a 3-over-par 291 in the first round for a 27-hole score of 9-over-par 437. Virginia is leading the 11-team race with a 9-under-par 419.
"We got off to a great start and just couldn't quite finish the first round, but we still have a lot of golf left," head coach Courtney Trimble said. "Emily had a solid day. She thrives in the postseason, and she is playing some great golf. We are all looking forward to a good day tomorrow - anything can happen over 27 holes."
The championship originally was scheduled for a three-day format, but with inclement weather expected for Sunday, the event was condensed to 27 holes on both Friday and Saturday.
Katie Mitchell, Louise Oxner, and Laura Restrepo are each tied for 32nd behind 4-over-par 111 performances. Restrepo shot a par-72 on the first 18 holes.
The completion of round two of the 2015 ACC Women's Golf Championship continues on Saturday, with a 7:30 a.m. start on hole No. 10. All pairings will remain the same as the first 27 holes.
