Cardinals return to ACC action
LOUISVILLE, KY. -- The University of Louisville women's soccer team heads back into conference action with a road matchup against Syracuse on Sunday afternoon at Syracuse Soccer Stadium.       Â

Louisville enters the match with an overall record of 5-5-1 and a 1-2-0 record in ACC play after wrapping up their non-conference slate with a 1-0 victory over Morehead State. Sophomore Isabella Habuda became the ninth different scorer this season when she scored in the game-winner in the 21st minute.        Â

For the season, nine Cardinals have scored this season with redshirt-senior Casey Whitfield and sophomore Alison Price leading the way with two goals. Price adds an assist with her two goals for five points, which is second on the team. Senior Rachel Avant adds a goal and a team-high three assists for five points. Junior goalkeepers Taylor Bucklin (29 saves) and Paige Brown (14 saves) have both seen time in goal this season with the two combining for a 0.98 goals against average.

Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 16th season with the Cardinals. She has guided Louisville to four NCAA Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.

SCOUTING SYRACUSE
Syracuse enters Sunday's matchup with an overall record of 4-7-1 and is currently on a three-game losing streak, most recently falling to No. 9 Virginia Tech, 3-1.

Alexis Koval leads the Orange with three goals and four assists, compiling a team-high 10 points on the season. Senior Maya Pitts, junior Stephanie Skilton, and sophomore forward Alex Lamontagne all add three goals for the Orange. Sophomore Courtney Brosnan has started every game in goal for the Orange and has recorded 47 saves and has a .153 goals against average.      Â

Phil Weddon is in his seventh season as the head women's soccer coach at Syracuse. Before coming to Syracuse, Weddon helped lead the United States women's soccer team to consecutive goal medals, including the 2008 crown in Beijing.

 The Cardinals and Orange will meet for the fifth time in series history. The Cardinals lead the series 3-0-1 including a 1-0 victory in the inaugural ACC opener last season at Lynn Stadium.
