LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville baseball team received its fourth preseason national ranking on Monday as Baseball America tabbed the Cardinals at No. 12 in its preseason Top 25.
The Cardinals are ranked as highly as No. 9 in the Perfect Game preseason Top 25 while also landing at No. 11 in the D1Baseball Top 25 and No. 12 in the Collegiate Baseball newspaper poll. Last season's NCAA champion Vanderbilt is atop the Baseball America Top 25 followed by No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Houston, No. 4 Virginia and No. 5 Texas Tech. Overall, six teams in the top 25 in the preseason poll are on the Cardinals' schedule in 2015 - No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 4 UVA, No. 9 Miami, No. 21 Florida State, No. 23 Cal State Fullerton and No. 24 Clemson.
The Cardinals will open the 2015 season at the Clearwater (Fla.) Tournament against Alabama State (Feb. 13), USF (Feb. 14) and Cal State Fullerton (Feb. 15) at Bright House Field. Louisville's 33-game home slate at Jim Patterson Stadium is set to begin on Feb. 18 against Eastern Kentucky.
