Tickets Going Fast for Men's Soccer Kickoff Banquet

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Anticipation continues to grow for the second annual Louisville Men's Soccer Kickoff Banquet scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 16 at the PNC Club inside Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.
Less than 10 days from this year's event, a limited number of tickets remain as collegiate coach and published author Patrick Johnston will serve as the headline guest. The 2014 Kickoff Banquet will also feature Skype interviews with former Louisville standouts and current MLS players Austin Berry, Andrew Farrell and Marlon Hairston. Other features of the event include the introduction of the 2014 Louisville players and coaches, a season preview from head coach Ken Lolla, a behind the scenes look at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium and a silent auction.
Activities are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m., ET with a cocktail hour, while dinner and the rest of the evening's events are set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 for adults and $15 for children, or $250 for a table of eight. "We are so excited to have Pat Johnston join us as the keynote speaker for the Kickoff Banquet. Pat will be intriguing and entertaining as he shares his journeys to the World's greatest soccer events, including this summer's World Cup," said Lolla, who enters his ninth season with the Cardinals. "The banquet will also provide us the opportunity to usher in our first season in Lynn Stadium and the ACC, both commemorative events. The night will provide insight to this year's team, which is one of the most talented in Louisville soccer history. Finally, we anticipate offering some special silent auction items that will not be available anywhere else."
Having served as the head coach of the women's soccer team at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn., during the last six seasons, Johnston has more than 20 years of coaching experience overall. Author of The Odyssey of a Soccer Junkie, Johnston was also a collegiate teammate to Lolla at Duke University in 1982-83 and played four seasons overall for the Blue Devils. A three-year All-ACC selection as well as an NSCAA All-American, Johnston went on to play professionally in England for Newcastle United (English First Division) and in the United States for the Miami Sharks, the Maryland Bays and the Miami Freedom (ASL, APSL).
The 2014 collegiate season, including Louisville's debut in the Atlantic Coast Conference as well as the opening of Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium, is scheduled to officially kick off on Friday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m., ET against Maryland. Season tickets are currently on sale to the general public and will provide admission to both men's and women's regular season matches.
